a note about our garden
i stepped out of the shade
to let your arms warm me
like the sunlight's relentless embrace
on all things earthly.
and now we'll grow together slowly
with our feet
firmly planted in the ground,
next to orange jasmine
and passion vines.
i sleep soundly in your warmth.
my body bends naturally
toward the light
that falls on our flower bed,
the sheets,
your hair.
i never asked you for honeydew,
but you came in like the spring
and gave me sweet, sweet
bliss.
