consorting with silence
when my mind was bound
to my ankles,
i wore an eagle's feather
around my neck
for flight to stay
close to my heart.
now, it's my blood
that defies gravity,
even
when
you cast my spirit
deep in the ocean,
for sharks to feast
on your own
fear.
fast forward
to the present -
i am dressed in light
and nothing makes me float
more than my feet,
walking on top
of the darkness
that you spend your energy
burning,
like a sky
full of wasted
stars.
