the beautiful disaster
in bright beauty
you found me
fumbling through sunshine,
skipping stones across endless seashores
and studying my heart's whispers
through hollow seashells.
the ocean opened its arms
but i was unable to jump in,
to see beyond sleeping in sandcastles,
to desire dreams untouched by sand.
but you were my beautiful disaster,
wind-blown waves
sweeping me out into the water
where the memory of fear
was washed away
and footprints emerged,
dancing across the ocean's floor.
i am now unafraid of drowning
because the promise of air
is no longer elusive.
